Moneybookers Account Hacked – Their Support SUCKS!

I logged into my Moneybookers account randomly last night to find out that it had been HACKED!  This account is brand new (1 month old) and I have only given out my account email to two people (affiliate managers at Pokerheaven and Euro Partners) so I am very suspicious about who could have done it.  Also, I never open suspicious emails, so there is no way I got caught by a phishing scheme.

Anyway, there were 6 transfers done to moneybookers@globe7.com (some online phone company based in India) all for around $117.  I immediately tried to find a number to call them, but they don`t even offer after hours support!  What a joke that is!  I emailed their security department last night, and called them (long distance! – no 800 number) first thing when they opened this morning.  When I called they said they would forward the request on to security.  It has now been almost 24 hours, and still NO RESPONSE!  I even emailed the support email at globe7.com, but they were completely useless and told me that I should contact moneybookers when I asked them who owned that email address.  I am so frustrated because it is basically a waiting game now, and this whole situtation kept me up really late last night.  I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now, and hope they will help out, but if they do not I will be voicing my opinion of their service like crazy!

I will keep everyone posted on the outcome, but for now I will keep it low key and off the forums.  My only recommendation to everyone is be careful, because when something goes wrong, there should always be someone there to help.  I shouldn`t have to wait around like this!  This is one of the reasons why I did not even want to open an account there in the first place, but these sites said this was the only way that they could pay me.  If nothing is done in the next day or so, I guess the next step is to go to the police, but I wouldn`t even know where to start.  Anyone ever had something like this happen?

  1. I checked my Moneybookers account on february 5, 2008 and I saw one new transaction on february 2. Somebody sent all of my money (450 usd) to chenxihuan@gmail.com I tried to contact with the Moneybookers security without success.
    My account HACKED too.
    The Moneybookers didn’t answer!
    What can we doing now?

  2. I have just opened an account with Globe and Moneybookers. They are both registered companies in London. In my experience their security is very high. I can’t even use the account until they send a letter to the address I said I lived at. The letter will contain a security number the I have to give them to activate the account. Most banks now use India as call centres. I hope you got your money back.

  3. I called them many times and eventually they said the other company agreed to refund about 75% of the money, but I must have called over 10 times and sent roughly 30 emails. All in all it was not worth it for the amount of stress this situation created…. screw Moneybookers, use another payment processor whenever possible!

  4. This is not about hacking, but my experience is not so good, either.

I opened an account a few weeks ago.
In logged in a few times, and had my Firefox remember the password.

Earlier today, I wanted to check whether the money I’ve been expecting had arrived. I tried to login, did so – but instantly there appeared on the screen a request for me to change the password (for “security reasons”). I didn’t have the time to do so, because something else demanded my full attention. So I just closed the browser and went about my business. (No new settings were saved – that I know 100%).

A few minutes ago, I returned to the website and tried to login. No way: it doesn’t recognise my password anymore. Of course I did not mistype it – plus the browser had filled the form automatically (I live alone, so it’s no problem). Still, I checked it, rechecked it, kept trying… all to no avail.

Now I have only one try left before they “lock” my account – again, for security reasons – and I don’t know what to do because there is no way that the password would have been misspelled or changed.

So I requested a new password. I entered my postal code and my date of birth.

Now it said my data weren’t correct.

    I retried.
    Nothing.

I thought maybe I had made a mistake while selecting the dates when I registered – so, panic stricken, I started going through the entire decade; then I tried different birth dates (day) – basically just guessing what the possible error might have been.

But there had been no error in the original registration form – of that I am sure.

Which means that now I would have to send them a “legible” copy of some identification paper, abd…

    It’s just not worth it.
I understand and respect their high regard for security.
But it would do them good to pay a bit more attention to their own “bugs”, too…

  5. Same happened here:

I’m very cautious regarding security in my pc, but one day I had an exploit and forgot to scan. When I realized, my account had been hacked and my money stolen. I emailed them several times with no answer.

When finally I had an answer from their “security” 😉 department, I was asked for documentation, and once provided; answered that they may close my account for ” security reasons “, despite my account had been verified in any way in order to enhance my limit and I held it for at least 2 years. Of course still waiting the reason behind that decision for more than 4 months.

Despite moneybookers provides a great service, their support is by far the worst I’ve ever seen -not only I’ve been stolen, but also closed without reason-.

    Just to make you aware.

  6. I made a purchase of a watch online. The transaction was handled by Moneybookers.

I have not heard from the seller at all, no watch, no notice or email confirmation from the seller. I have only received the one sent by Mioneybookers of the transaction.

I am in the US and their site tells me I cannot even set up an account to ask for help!

Can anyone help me with information on how to contact Moneybookers for information on the seller or to help me to contact them?

  7. It seems that the money is lost. This is part og the answer I got from moneybookers:

Please note, that the transactions could not be retrieved, as the funds left our system immediately.

We hope you understand that Moneybookers Ltd. has a strict security policy aimed at protecting your account privacy.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

    Kind regards,

  8. I was noticed a transfer of 300 USD from moneybookers. A transfer I of course did not make. I send a mail asking moneybookers what they were going to do about that. Two days have passed but I still have no answer!
In my opinion they should reembourse all the money transfered by the hackers! Immediately! No questions? They should already have done that. I am done with moneybookers if they do not reimbourse that money to me!

  9. MONEYBOOKERS = WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER

I have never dealt with such horrible, incompetent customer service. I have talked to multiple people (after dozens of phone calls) who said they would personally handle my situation.

I receive emails saying my account has been approved/cleared but then they do not ACTUALLY make it functional.

  10. My account is locked for almost 7 days now for security reaons. They asked from me to provide a proff of my ID and bank statement.Im asked my self why now this again,iw already done that before, but never mind i wil do it again if they want need it.Iw send them all they asked from me but no reply from moneybookers. So i said gona call them and whn got them on the line it was very bad quality i could not understand nothing and called them again from another phone thinking its probably problem with my phone provider, but i was wrong the quality was again poor and not understandable which made me just to quit calling them.
Because i dont receive nothing from them decided to give a try and call them again next day,so i did and got now clear line on phone which was strange, but oke…explained the guy everything and he said that they got all documentation they asked from me and that my documents wil be provided to security departement.
Next day iw got email from security departement whish saying:
we have identified a fraudulent transaction sent to your account.
It would really help us if you could send us the following:
    – Confirmation that we can cancel the transaction bellow

I didnt agreed on this because that transaction is finished and ordered products are sent.
Now they are on the way to close my account and at this moment stil cant widraw the money on moneybookers.
Before they locked my account i didnt got any email from them about that and before i notice my account is locked have transfered few houndreds euro to send it to person who need it for medicine, but then i notice it was not possible to send it and more worst i cant even widraw that money back to my bank.
Now they jus thold the money and i stil waiting and waiting.
Sure after i clear this wil stop as merchant to use moneybookers.
    Sry because my bad english
